Is It OK for Teachers to Make Small Children Cry?

>> Friday, November 07, 2008

This was filmed by Finnish documentarians making a film about Obama supporters. The teacher, Dintha Harris (who was in Ashville but now teaches in Cumberland County, N.C. near Fort Bragg) brought a student to tears over her support of John McCain.

Take your time and really watch this. (It's ok to skip the first few seconds- unless you understand Finnish) Via Allahpundit.

In the interview after the classroom piece the teacher says that she didn't browbeat the child when she chose John McCain and just moved on. Really? Telling this little girl that her daddy is going to be in the military for another hundred years is moving on? Why don't you just kick her dog while you're at it, lady?

Would you be OK with a teacher in your school doing that to a child? Why or why not? And what would you do about it?

um yeah... she was in the WRONG! I mean hello??!!! Sure people are entitled to an opinion but she didn't leave it at that did she? She went on to say that McCain was going to leave her father in war for another 100 years... not very PC.

Oh, don't even get me started! My momma fangs want to eat that teacher alive. I bet that little girl will remember that moment for the rest of her life :(

Yet another reason I'll be homeschooling this baby girl of ours!

That is just wrong! What kind of a "teacher" is this woman?! And you wonder why people choose to homeschool! Ugh!

So, do you have a holiday recipe that you'd like to share? :)

Mama bear is coming out, and it isn't even my kid! That is so wrong. No matter what your views are, we want to teach our kids to be open to all points of view. So wrong.

Yep that is wrong. I felt the same way when a women in a few cities over from me made tons of Obama supporters cry on Halloween. When each kid came up, she asked them if they liked Obama. If they said yes or even looked at their parents for help, she refused candy. Tons of kids left crying.

Politics can bring out the worst in people. Most kids don't understand it & have no idea who they actually want.

Not only would I not like for a teacher to talk to my child that way. I don't even like her attitude at all. She comes across as harsh and not caring at all. That's fine if she's in a situation where she needs to discipline, but when talking about such a touchy subject like politics and someones father! Woe.
