I Think I'm Impressed...

Actually, I'm pretty darn sure I am. John McCain chose a running mate I can get behind. He chose a strong, pro-life, conservative woman. And, not only a woman but a mother of 5. Who has what no presidential or vice presidential candidate has: executive experience.
So, who is Alaska Governor Sarah Palin? That's a good question. She wasn't on the "radar" really and very few people know about her. But why should that stop reporters from yelling that she's "inexperienced" (hmmm... she's run a state... not one of the other candidates have run anything...) and pulling the "but she's a mom, what about the kids?" card (funny, you never hear that about dads...)
Here is some info I have been able to find (along with the links so you can continue your research)
- She is for drilling for Alaska's resources (including in the ANWAR)
- She isn't afraid to stand up against her party and expose wrongdoing
- She shut down the "Bridge to Nowhere" pork project
- She has had the highest approval rating of any governor (dare I say politician?)
- She sued over polar bears being listed as endangered
- She sold the jet the previous governor used state funds to buy (on eBay for a profit)
- Her eldest son is in the Army and is deploying to Iraq
- She hunts moose and is a lifetime member of the NRA
Bravo, John McCain. With a strong, sensible, no-nonsense woman as your VP I can now throw my support behind you.

I, too, was pleasantly surprised! I can't wait to find out even more about her. And I do find it ironic that the democratic party is criticizing her "lack of experience." I wonder how Hilary fans feel right now...Bravo, McCain! I am pumped!
I love Palin!
Thanks for the info on her...I'd never heard of her and didn't know anything about her. I'll have to check out some of your links.
Can she just be PRESIDENT?
Really.
I agree with Iowa Mom. She has more actual experience than Obama. Great choice!
I have to say I'm a little disappointed. She's impressive, don't get me wrong, but out of left field too much. The majority of people won't know who she is and (more importantly) won't bother to find out. One thing she has going for her that McCain, Obama and Biden don't have is she's run a government before. He could have done much better, in my opinion.
I'm with you! I'd heard of her, but didn't know much about her till yesterday. Like you, I did my checking and I'm impressed with her no nonsense, get out of my way, and get the job done attitude. I'm hoping a fresh face will really vitalize the McCain campaign. They need to get the message out that this is one qualified candidate that can run circles around Obama, Biden, and maybe McCain. (Did you know Newt Gingrich threw her name in the ring in April? Way to go, Newt!)
Of course you know I will not agree with you since Im for the people and democratic. When it come to John and Cindy McCain and Palin, gag me, and lets go shopping for another house or another jet while American families starve and have no jobs. Yahhhhh sounds fabulous. And lets destroy our Alaskan wilderness so we can save money on gas...hahhaha sounds fun. And lets not worry about the animals that contribute to our ecosytem as their slowly dying of starvation...sounds like a winner to me. And lets put laws on women's bodies so that we look "right" in the eyes of the Catholic church. That's all I have to say about that.
And yeah I know my use of english is bad
I am not quite sure what to think of the choice yet. I think there were other choices that might have been better (and no I don't mean Gov. Paw). I have to do some more research on her before I pass a full judgement.
But, with that said. If she will continue to stand for what (so far) I have seen her stand for, it is a good fit.
Time to read.
