A Bit of Destruction

>> Thursday, June 30, 2005

We had quite the little storm blow through last night. About 9:30pm or so Doug & I were sitting on the couch when it blew in. A couple of minutes later the lightning started. It was close enough that Brenna's battery powered toys began playing and Toby's invisible fence collar started to beep.

And behind that came the wind. Hard enough that it rattled the chimney of our fireplace and caused the edging to crack and break.

These are a few of the sights that greeted me this morning (thankfully all neighbors. We had our trees trimmed a few weeks ago. Luckily.)

This first photo is across 18th street. They have many mature trees, most of which littered their yard with large branches.

The second one is across the street to the east. Just snapped that tree like a twig.

Back across 18th street for this 3rd photo. That was a big branch that came off there...

And, finally, the house across the street to the south of us. I'm guessing they won't be going to work today. "Ummm, I can't make it in, there is a tree blocking my garage."
