Civil War?

>> Wednesday, October 13, 2004

On my way in to work, Glenn Beck was saying how the President had a more than wild youth, but in the 80's he found his faith and became a changed man. A man of character and conviction and that is the reason he is despised by those on the extreme left.

Prayer and belief in God are under attack by the media and opinion writers. We cannot allow this to happen, just as we cannot allow one party to intimidate and physically attack campaign headquarters and supporters of the other.

Many conservative commentators predict a social civil war in the US after the election. I didn't agree with their opinion then. However, with each new attack on religion and faith, not only faith in a higher being, but in our country; with each new physical attack on Bush campaign supporters, I think that the war for the social character of our nation is closer to reality. Here's an interesting tidbit; most of the anti-war/anti-Bush rallies around the world have been coordinated and funded by communist groups like International ANSWER.

Why is it that liberals, who have no problem projecting the "fascist" label on conservatives, are the ones actually behaving like fascists? Why do they want to ban conservative books and opinion from the media and on campus? Why are they physically attacking Bush supporters? Why do they force their idea of the world on others and then expect them to pay for it too? Why is it that their only retort to things they don't like is "Bush is a fascist"? Why do they expect us to forget what happened 3 years ago and sometimes even a couple of months ago? Why do they not trust America to do what's right or even recognize the good we have already done in the world? Why do they continually get caught making stuff up (that means lie; for examples, see Richard Clarke, Joe Wilson, Dan Rather, Maureen Dowd, Michael Moore, Tom Harkin, Ted Kennedy, and Al Gore), then claim that the media is giving Bush a "pass"?

You are right Brett, Democrats seem to be the ones continuously bending if not outright breaking the law.

I know with your schedule, volunteering is tight, but try to recruit people in your stead. We need people to call registered voters and make sure they vote. We need people to monitor the polling sites. We need couriers and runners and people to man the phones, drop off signs and literature and a million other tasks.

I'll see what I can find that you can do from your house.

Your questions are all good questions. I think the answer to a lot of them is hate(or lack of tolerance for differing opinions). When people hate they don't think straight. Take the Israel - PLO conflict. A lot of people think it is about land. It really has nothing to do with land. They(not all but those with the loudest mouths) want the Jews dead. They start hearing lies about them and hating them at a very young age. If you look at their history its been happening for 2000 years.

It sad that we can't tolerate differing opinions. That's how most of the middle east and other countries governments are. Don't people see that?

I happen to believe there is a spiritual battle going on and it manifests in the natural. These things are told in the Bible and they are coming into manifestation more and more.

Ok here is the short version (or maybe medium).

From what I see the dark is getting darker but.....the light is getting lighter.

The Bible pretty much reveals everything thats happening. Before the 2nd coming of Christ it will heat up like it is. The enemy knows he is doomed(Revelation reveals that) so he is turning up the heat but he is a loser. Although...he will try to take as many people as he can with him.

As a Christian I have hope no matter what is happening around me. President Bush hit on that last night. Even in the worst of times he can have a peace. I probably would have been afraid to go to Israel in Oct. of 2001 if I didn't have that peace. Believe me people thought I was crazy but I knew in my heart I was suppose to go.

One of the most important issues to me is how a President will respond to Israel. The Bible says whoever blesses them will be blessed and whoever curses them will be cursed. History shows that clearly. I believe President Bush to be the best in that. Though its not been perfect he has refused to meet with Arafat which is a very good thing.

Clinton was a putz and got suckered by every despot on the planet. What's with liberals and their liking of mass-murderers? Carter was worse, but wait, Clinton sent Carter to North Korea. Hmmm, that make Clinton worse because he should have known that Carter would make a deal detrimental to America. Maybe that was his goal too.

Being the crossroads of 3 continents, Israel has always been fought over. Now, they have several Arab and Muslim nations calling for their complete annihilation and use random murder to push their agenda.

I am a history buff and have read most of Tim Lahaye's Left Behind series. I don't think what's going on today is any worse than say Salidan, the Crusades, or any of the wars Israel fought since granted independence in 1948. I think the Israeli's miraculous defeat of numerically superior armies in 1948, days after they gained their own country, meets a condition in Revelations. I could be wrong. I want to be wrong.

I know God's concept of time and our concept of time are different. This may be a poor analogy, but how does a fly think about humans? Flies live on average about 22 days. They don't have a concept of months, let alone years. If a fly lives it's life in the remote wilds and hears stories of 2 legged ground-walkers that build great structures, leave great feasts but kill at random; what would that fly think? I think that evolution and Genesis do NOT contradict each other. I think God's concept of time is different than ours. I think our forefathers saw great works, but we are now in the wilderness hearing only stories.

If President Bush meets with Arafat, I hope the outcome would be Arafat heading to his very own cell in Gitmo....

I agree that our concept of time isn't the same as Gods. It says that a day to Him is like a thousand years to us (Ps 90:4). The book of Genesis talks about God as the Creator. It also says in Romans 1 that men are without excuse because God is revealed in everything around us(creation). I'm not sure how that wouldn't contradict the theory of evolution. Besides....evolution takes a whole lot more faith to believe in then creation in my opinion. God tried to make it simple for us but man tries to make it complex. I believe Israel is Gods timeclock. Certain things had to happen before other things could. Like Israel becoming a nation and also it speaks of them coming home which is and has been happening the past few years. Hundreds of thousands of Jews have moved to Israel and probably didn't know all the reasons why - they just knew then needed to. I've heard some say that.

I definitely agree that people in the past have gone thru just as bad or worst then what is going on now. It does talk about before the return of Christ there will be wars, rumors of wars, more earthquakes etc...and also that mens hearts will grow cold(Read Matthew 24). I think we see that more today.

I agree with you on Arafat. That is definitely where he should be. Why is anyone sympathetic with him!?!?!?

Are you saying that Israel already has fought Armageddon?

Are you saying that Israel already has fought Armageddon? That's the question of the ages. I don't know. There have been so many battles, so much blood spilt, it's hard to say that the wars now are any less or more than wars then.

For my own personal and selfish reasons I hope the rapture is after my lifetime. I have so much I'd like to accomplish and I want to see my daughter grow up in a good time period.

Similar in theme. A Jewish liberal New Yorker on why she is voting for Bush. Yes, there are some liberals that get it...
